KMR Seminar - Why Analogue Desks?
Around 70 musicians, producers, engineers and recording enthusiasts were in attendance for the first KMR seminar on the evening of Thursday 27th of November hosted in the KMR building in North London.Robin Porter from AMS Neve and Niall Feldman of Solid State Logic started the proceedings with fascinating talks, the first time that representatives from these two giants of the recording industry have ever appeared together on the same bill. These illuminating presentations covered the history of the companies, their large format consoles and their existing and new outboard ranges.
Gareth Davies and David Deardon of Audient concluded the presentations with the Audient ASP8024 desk. This fully analogue recording console has definitely become the console of choice for the discerning producer's studio who wants to work within the modern methodology of combining signals from digital recorders in the analogue domain with hands on control and analogue outboard treatments.
Following the presentations a lively question and answer session ensued.
The next seminar will be on February the 26th entitled "Microphones and Microphone Technique"
Further seminars are planned including: Microphones, Acoustics and Studio Design, Apple and Audio, Monitoring and The Americans. Check the industry press for details.
