The Benchmark DAC2 DX is a digital to analogue converter dedicated to professionals working solely within the digital domain environment.

The rack-mountable DAC2 DX by Benchmark includes an XLR AES digital input and dual stereo output buses that can be individually adjusted to a variable or fixed setting. The update has additional features such as the 12V trigger I/O and its improved DIM and MUTE functions. Benchmark also opted to use digital connectors for the DAC2 DX giving you the option of USB, Optical, Coaxial or AES. This allows the device to bypass low-quality converters found in many audio products.

With its latest 2 channel D/A converter (DAC2 DX), Benchmark has been able to reduce the noise level as well as distortion, whilst boosting its accuracy, improving on the DAC1, one of the most desired referencing tools used in the finest recording studios and mastering suites. Using an advanced high-headroom digital filter design alongside a high-sample rate asynchronous USB Audio interface, the DAC2 delivers outstanding musical detail and detailed stereo imagery. The new Benchmark UltraLock2 jitter attenuation system also allows for the inputs to be isolated, preventing interference.

The DAC series converters are designed to drive both power amplifiers and Powered monitors. The converters include low-impedance passive attenuators at the XLR outputs, which help optimize the interference to either powered monitor or amplifier. These attenuators play an important sonic role that cannot be overemphasized.  

Benchmark converters have also been specifically designed for maximum transparency. Whilst providing a quality reference when working within a professional platform, it also delivers a sonic signature to the home studio that has been modelled from a high-end recording facility.

The Rotary volume controls the combined DAC2 DX’s active gain control, passive low-impedance attenuators, a 32-bit digital gain and a servo-driven volume control unless the volume-bypass function is selected. Benchmark achieves distortion-free gain reduction without compromising its dynamic range.
