The Bock Audio 241 is a side address, large diaphragm condenser microphone designed specifically for vocals and based on the flagship Bock 251.
The Bock Audio 241 uses a German hand-made capsule, hand wound vintage-style audio transformer, NOS tube and a hand-built custom outboard power supply. Two voicing are offered, selectable via the Brite/Normal switch. With the “Brite” mode activated, the microphone sees an unfiltered extended high frequency response akin to modern high-quality condenser microphones without ever sounding harsh. In normal mode, the Bock 241 is less bright and offers a more vintage inspired sound ideal for sibilant voices.
The Bock Audio 241 has been tuned with a mid-range presence curve adding presence defining a great vocal take cutting through a dense mix. When singing close to the microphone, the proximity effect is natural yet powerful without ever sounding boomy or bassy. The Bock Audio 241’s smooth midrange will save the engineers, the need to resort to any EQ to add presence and will elevate the quality of your vocal sound.
Despite being designed for vocals the Bock 241 is also great as a room mic, in front of a drum kit giving you the feeling that you “are” in the room while on string instruments it will capture the complex harmonic structure and transient with impressive detail.
