1997 saw the first Access Virus hit the music shops. Causing an immediate stir, the Virus offered a powerful alternative to the generic preset model and sound modules that seemed ubiquitous at the time. Access used their DSP to produce a fantastically rounded virtual analogue sound replete with oscillators filters envelopes and effects, which gained fans from all musical genres as it quickly established itself as a must have synth combining all the advantages of digital synthesis and soft-synths with the immediacy of analogue synthesizers whose popularity had faded.

The Virus has undergone various upgrades and re-designs in its sixteen year history, with the TI2 series featuring a range of models from the baby Snow through the TI2 Keyboards and Desktop and now including a 37 key Virus Polar.  Now and despite the return of analogue synthesizers, the Virus is still considered a must have instrument offering a truly modular approach to synthesis, still difficult to match in the analogue domain.
