Back in 1984 Audix commenced its ongoing mission to design, engineer, and manufacture high-performing, innovative products playing their part in advancing the pro audio industry. By building microphones to last a lifetime, Audix remains determined to push the limits of technology from conception to completion, courtesy of its on-site R&D and in-house manufacturing facility at its Wilsonville, Oregon headquarters.
Audix produces a wide range of microphone types to suit all needs. Its OM Series of dynamic vocal microphones feature VLM™ (Very Low Mass) technology while boasting excellent clarity and SPL (Sound Pressure Level) handling. All are optimised with varied performance attributes and have found favour with the likes of Alanis Morissette, Willie Nelson, and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, to name but a few notable artists.
Catering to the increasingly popular propensity for studio-quality sound during live performances, Audix offers several phantom-powered condenser studio microphone models, proving popular with touring artists such as Katie Melua.
Audix also offers a range of application-specific dynamic instrument microphones, including the long-running D2, which raised the bar for kick drum microphones, and i5 for snare drum and guitar cabinet applications, as well as the FireBall Series of professional harmonica and beatbox microphones.
Audix has helpfully come up with a simplified approach to selecting microphones for drum kits, percussion ensembles, and general studio sessions with a selection of prepackaged microphone collections for studio and stage work.
Other than manufacturing microphones for all occasions, the long-running Powerhouse Series compact active monitor design features an inbuilt stereo amplifier in the master speaker which connects to the other (slave) speaker — a perfectly portable playback system for home recording or installation applications.
