The Brauner Phanthera is a phantom-powered large-diaphragm solid-state cardioid microphone, made in Germany.
Solid-state, rather than valve, the large diaphragm Brauner Phanthera is a condenser microphone well suited to recording vocals - either sung or spoken. This is due to the cardioid pickup pattern of the Phanthera, which enhances the proximity effect when used at close range - so gently boosting the lower frequencies. It also makes the Brauner Phanthera a good choice for subduing the worst effects of toppy or over-sibilant sounds without using EQ.
The Brauner Phanthera delivers you a crisp, full sound with a good wide-ranging response on-axis and it's full of personality and presence - it can also handle high spls with ease. Since the Phanthera is solid-state it is able to run cooler and with less noise than its valve cousins in the Brauner range - and this also means that it costs you less.
Dirk Brauner set out to establish his expertise with the original, sought-after and award-winning VM1 - since then, he has tirelessly applied himself to creating and innovating in his journey to create the best microphones in the world - the Brauner Phanthera is another significant landmark.
