The Brauner Phantom V is a variable-pattern large-diaphragm phantom-powered solid-state condenser microphone from Germany

In a break from their tradition, the Brauner Phantom V is the first Brauner solid-state design to offer multi-pattern polar pickup operated using  phantom power. Constructed with the same capsule and circuit design as the much-vaunted valve-powered VM1 and with the same philosophy of excellence underpinning it, the Brauner Phantom V delivers a terrific performance tirelessly and offers great value for money.

Omni-directional, bi-directional and cardioid patterns on the Brauner Phantom V can be swiftly chosen using toggle switches on the body of the microphone - and a -10dB pad can also be applied the same way. Adaptability is a given - the three pickup patterns allow you to choose from a range of tonal colours, whether you choose to record close-up in cardioid and take advantage of the full, warm, increased presence on offer from the Brauner Phantom V or back it off and hear its crisp and natural tones that can pick up high transient detail with such ease. Bi-directional is great for recording two singers or for sum-and-difference stereo and omni lets you pick up all the ambience of your location whilst recording your source in a very natural manner.

Tough, robust and uncompromisingly constructed, the Brauner Phantom V is an excellent solid-state general-purpose precision instrument from Dirk Brauner, the man who has made it his life's work to provide the very finest microphones.
