Add the External Power Supply! Review by Ian (Posted on 06/06/2018)
Adding to the above review - I can confirm that adding a good quality external DC supply rather than the standard AC 240v supply cable definitely lifts performance another notch or two. Certainly the more you spend the better the improvement. For example a simple £20 Linear power supply unit will probably sound flat and soft; - I know - I also tried this route. You need to look at options like those mentioned on the Mytek brookyn support page. NB I also tried a USB reclocking device (for those using PC audio) and also found this was of benefit in squeezing the last ounce of performance out of the brooklyn. Finally, I found upgraded, more substantial power cords also helped. Of course your mileage may vary but if you can experiment - I would!
Stunning Little DAC Review by Ian (Posted on 21/05/2018)
Firstly - I need to mention that all of my listening is done via Audeze headphones so I don't listen via monitors. However this is a First Class Headphone Amp/DAC. The separation and openness of the sound is hard to beat at this price level. Its a sizeable and significant step up from other hifi DACS in the £800 region as you would expect it to be. It is rock solid technically and just doesn't put a foot wrong. I'm currently experimenting with upgraded power cables and external DC supplies and hope to update the review with my experiences soon. Just a quick word about the first class service I received from KMR when auditioning the unit over period of time. Thanks a lot (synthesizer)Tom for helping out. Much appreciated.!
