Four-band Stereo EQ inspired by the EQ section of the MCI JH500 series console.

The Coleman Audio CA500EQ is a four-band Stereo EQ inspired by the EQ section of the MCI JH500 series console.

The Coleman Audio CA500EQ uses stepped level and frequency controls allowing for easy recall and precise settings. Low and high bands provide up to 10dB of cut or boost in 2dB steps while both mid brands provide up to 14dB of cut or boost, again in 2dB steps. A 18dB/oct high-pass filter with variable frequency between 30 to 300Hz, is also available and can be engaged separately from the EQ. Each channel boasts input and output level controls

Designed by Glenn Coleman and commissioned by legendary producer and engineer Jimmy Douglas, the CA500EQ circuits are designed to musical scales and not mathematical relationships and the variable Q circuits keep the tonal balance when increasing or decreasing the gain. A stereo/mono switch transforms the CA500EQ into a mono EQ with the signal first reaching the left channel before reaching a loop point sending the signal to the right for further processing.
