High Voltage Wide Cardioid Transformerless Condenser Microphone. An excellent speech, dubbing or vocal microphone as its enhanced richness on the bass end nicely complements many voices.
The DPA 4016 High Voltage Wide Cardioid Transformerless Mic. Highly regarded by engineers for its ultra high SPL capability and wide cardioid versatility. The DPA 4016 wide cardioid microphone is the high voltage (130 V) counterpart to the 4015-TL. The two microphones are acoustically identical, but differ in their sound level handling. Due to the higher voltage supplied for the preamplifier via the DPA HMA5000, the 4016 can handle 168 dB SPL peak before clipping occurs! It is designed with a linear on-axis frequency response from 40 Hz (±2 dB) to 20 kHz (+3/-2 dB) at 60 cm, with a soft high frequency lift from 10 to 15 kHz of max. 3 dB. The off-axis characteristics of the 4016 wide cardioid microphone are totally linear, a unique quality when it comes to authentic sound reproduction. Any leakage that occurs from off-axis sound sources is still a faithful reproduction of these sounds, just softly attenuated. The main features of the DPA 4016 include: High SPL Capability - 168dB Often used for grand piano, guitar, marimba and percussion or as a spot mic for groups in a symphony orchestra. Also an excellent speech, dubbing or vocal microphone as its enhanced richness on the bass end nicely complements many voices Principle of operation: Pressure gradient Cartridge type: 19 mm (0.75 in) pre-polarised condenser Power supply: 130 V via HMA5000 Frequency range, ± 2 dB: On-axis: 40 Hz to 20 kHz +3/-2 dB in 60 cm distance with a max. 3 dB soft boost at 10 – 15 kHz Directional characteristics: Wide Cardioid Equivalent noise level A-weighted: Typ. 19 dB(A) re. 20 µPa (max. 20 dB(A)) Sensitivity, nominal, ±2 dB: 9 mV/Pa; -41 dB re. 1 V/Pa Equiv. noise level ITU-R BS.468-4: Typ. 25 dB (correct with the attenuator in 0 dB or -20 dB setting) Capsule diameter: 19 mm (0.75) Total harmonic distortion (THD): <0.5% up to 110 dB SPL peak, <1% up to 116 dB SPL peak Preamplifier frequency range: 20 Hz to 50 kHz ±0.2 dB, 5 Hz to 150 kHz -3 dB Output impedance: Matches HMA5000 input Cable drive capability: From microphone to HMA5000: Up to 20 m (66 ft), From HMA5000: Up to 300 m (984 ft) Microphone length: 175 mm (6.9 in) Max.
