The Drawmer 1972 Dual Mic/Line and Instrument Mic Preamplifier is a flexible 1U dual-channel mic preamp designed for both live and studio applications.

The Drawmer 1972 preamp delivers up to 66dB of gain in 6dB steps allowing for precise setup and easy recall for previous sessions or fast changeovers in the live arena.

The 1972 mic pre features a 6-position Select input source switch that lets the user choose between line, instrument and four different positions for microphones, including a setting for phantom power and a choice of three impedance to match the impedance of dynamic or ribbon microphones with a choice of 200 Ohms, 600 Ohms, 2.4kOhms.

The front panel also includes buttons for polarity reversal, 12dB/oct Hi and lo-cut filters. The Low-cut filter has a sweeping range of 1.5kHz-20kHz, and the hi-cut filter has a sweeping frequency between 15Hz-350Hz.

The Drawmer 1972 also includes a unique Lift function, a low-level upward expander that helps boost signals below -30dB until the 0dB level is reached. As the levels approach 0dB, the added gain is gradually reduced, resulting in a smooth and natural automatic gain-riding solution.

Another innovative feature is the Shape function, consisting of two fixed frequency tilt EQs with the low shape providing a 2.5dB boost at 40Hz while bringing a 10kHz attenuation. In contrast, the high shape reduces 40Hz by 2.5dB while providing a 2.5dB boost at 10kHz. Combining the two creates a musical scoop centred at 500Hz, removing buildup frequencies that can create a honky or harsh sound.
