Arturia DrumBrute Drum Machine Annouced

Arturia DrumBrute Review

Today Arturia annouced something we'd long be hoping for, the DrumBrute. A 17-voice Analogue Drum Machine.

Arturia have really been pulling out the stops recently with the MatrixBrute and the highly regarded cult classic MiniBrute. But what we've all been asking is "when are you going to release a drum machine?" and out of the blue they've dropped the DrumBrute.

DrumBrute News Top

A 100% analogue signal path percussions synthesizer with a tonne of clocking options and enough sound design and performance controls to keep even the keenest beatmaker busy.

What strikes you first is the sheer amount of voices available. There's 17 on them....yes 17. Comprising of two kicks, snare, clap, open and closed hi-hats, high and low toms, conga, maracas, rimshot, clave, tambourine, zap, cymbal and even a reverse cymbal.

Then you get on the sequencer itself, which Arturia take ques from it's sequencing back catalogue. It can run 64-steps and can store 64 preset patterns, then there's the clocking options; MIDI, Analogue Clock, 1PPS, 2PPQ, DIN24 and DIN48 so it'll play happily with everything from your modular to your 303!

Boasting one knob per function sound editing and a master dual mode Steiner Parker filter, building sounds and tweaking them in realtime makes the DrumBrute fun and super easy to manipulate. Seperate outputs per voice are provided for utmost flexibility and outboard processing capabilities.

DrumBrute News Back

With all of the clock options and sequencing capabilities, it's fairly obviously that this machine is aimed at the live musician. Handy then that it's built like a tank.

Set to start shipping in November and priced at a crazy £379, I think this is going to be another cult classic machine from those amazing French synth pioneers we call Arturia.
