Avid recently announced some major changes that will affect all HD customers. First is a brand new Pro Tools HD Annual Upgrade and Support Plan followed by a new Exchange program.
The new Pro Tools HD Annual Upgrade and Support Plan includes software upgrades, direct support for a year, plus access to the bonus plug-in bundle for the duration of the plan. Pro Tools HD 9, 10 or 11 owners can upgrade before the 31st of December 2015 for £380 ex vat or £659 ex vat in the new year. The option to renew the HD upgrade plan will be £259 ex vat or you can choose to reinstate at a later date for £659 ex vat. In line with the new upgrade plan, Avid are scheduling more regular feature releases so you can anticipate multiple feature updates through the duration of the upgrade plan.
If you have bought a Pro Tools HD system after the 22nd of January or upgrade to HDX or HD Native this year, you will have an upgrade plan automatically. This means you'll only need to renew your coverage before the end of your plan to enjoy the lower price.
The second announcement touches on Avid's Hardware Exchange program. The original Legacy Pro Tools HD Hardware Exchange program will end on the 23rd of December 2015. If you were considering upgrading your system, now may be the time.
A new exchange program will start on the 1st of January 2016 and will include:
- Legacy Pro Tools HD Core card and interface to Pro Tools HDX will save you £1300 off the new Pro Tools system
- 002, 003, MBox Pro, Avid Duet and Quartet to Pro Tools HD Native will take £300 Off the price of your upgrade
- Legacy "Blue" HD interfaces to HD Series I/O will give you a £300 saving on your Pro Tools system upgrade.
This will mean, if you have a HD2 or larger there will be significant savings through upgrading before the end of the year. Any questions or are looking to upgrade your system and would like to know more, then contact us. Our sales and technical team will answer all your questions.
