Companion to Smart Active Monitors
The Genelec 9401A is a companion to Genelec’s Smart Active Monitors and Subwoofers and includes 16 digital connectivity channels, a dedicated subwoofer, and auxiliary stereo outputs through AES/EBU. The auxiliary output is ideal for headphone feeds, enabling monitoring of binaural and secondary stereo loudspeakers. The 9401A seamlessly integrates with Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) software, allowing comprehensive system calibration, including subwoofer alignment and support for bass management. Its separate subwoofer output facilitates easy chaining of Smart Active Subwoofers for increased low-frequency SPL output, and system capacity can be expanded by adding more 9401A devices for compatibility with high-channel-count immersive formats like 22.2.
Complete Monitoring Control with 9320A Reference Controller
In addition to its audio-over-IP networking capabilities, the 9401A handles loudspeaker management and calibration through the proprietary GLM network connectivity. Tactile control of the entire monitoring system is achieved with the new 9320A Reference Controller, acting as a bridge to the UNIO platform and providing one-click access to numerous monitor features within the Smart Active Monitoring family.

Performance-wise, the 1U rack-mountable 9401A is compatible with sample rates ranging from 44.1 to 192 kHz, supporting 16, 24, and 32-bit resolution per sample. Leveraging Gigabit Ethernet for low latency, the 9401A supports the ST2110 broadcast suite with ST2022-7 redundant network connectivity and NMOS integration to enterprise management and automation systems. Crafted for long-term reliability and built to the highest environmental standards at Genelec’s factory in Iisalmi, Finland, the 9401A also incorporates proprietary Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) technology, contributing to lower power consumption.
