The Pultec EQP-1S3 Matched Pair includes two EQP-1S3 with carefully selected and matched components for stereo matching operations.


The Pultec EQP-1S3 Matched Pair is a rare edition of the legendary Pultec EQP-1A eq with different frequency points and a choice of peak and shelf modes in the high-frequency band.


The Pultec EQP-1S3 is not a clone but an exact reissue of the original, designed over 50 years ago. It was built by Dr Steve Jackson after years of research. The matched pair use carefully selected components to ensure consistency of sound and behaviour between both units. This is especially important if used on stereo sources or on the mix-buss in order to maintain the original stereo information.


This rare Pultec provides you with the same sound characteristics that have made them so popular all over the world, including as its unique ability to improving your music sound by passing audio through it.


The EQP-1S3 uses a two band passive design (low shelf and high peak/shelf) with individual boost and cut controls that can be combined to create a resonant shelf curve. This unique curve lets you boost the low end while notching the frequency above. This results in a deep and tight low frequency ideally suited for kick drums and bass guitars. The HF band adding a choice of independent frequencies for the attenuation control. Furthermore, the EQP-1S3 gives a choice between peak and shelf modes producing different sonic characteristics. The different frequency points are:


  • Low Shelf Boost/Cut: 30kcs 40kcs, 70kcs and 100kcs
  • High Bell Boost:1kcs, 2kcs, 3kcs, 4kcs, 5kcs, 6kcs, 8kcs, 10kcs, 12kcs
  • High Shelf Boost: 5kcs, 10kcs
  • High Shelf Cut: 5kc, 10kc, 20kc

  • The amplification in the EQP-1S3 is unchanged from the EQP-1A with a valve-driven push-pull gain make-up stage placed after the EQ. This design compensates for the loss of volume inherent to passive EQ designs.
