The Unity Audio Boulder Mk-III is a powerful 3-way active studio monitor with a brand new 220mm (8.5”) crystal membrane woofer, new class D amplification and delivers the same accurate and detailed sound of the previous iterations

The Unity Boulder Mk-III uses a new crystal membrane with inverse aluminium dome bonded to the paper cone in a unique glueing process to create the desired sandwich construction. The crystal-shaped stamping stiffens the aluminium dome, reducing resonances and unwanted colouration and improves power handling and dynamics.

The tweeter and X-Jet coaxial Mid-range drive unit comprises a 5” ring midrange driver augmented by a centrally mounted JET5 50kHz folded ribbon tweeter. This unique design reduces stray magnetic field and provides higher efficiency, improves dynamics and even frequency dispersion. This creates a true point source design with perfect phase accuracy across its frequency spectrum. This results in superior imaging, transient response and power efficiency.

Drivers are powered by a hybrid Class D and Class A/B system with two 300 Watt Class D amplifiers powering both crystal membrane woofers while the Class A/B amplifier is used to power the Coaxial X-Jet midrange and ribbon tweeter. This results in a much more powerful speaker with all the life-like qualities and effortless dynamics and transient response.

The Unity Audio Boulder Mk-III uses the same sealed cabinet used in previous versions, delivering accurate bass response with superior time domain performance than ported designs. Another advantage is the gradual 12dB per octave roll-off instead of the 24dB per octave found in ported designs which ensures that no phasing issues colour your speakers. The cabinet itself is made of 18mm baltic birch plywood with a 30mm Corian front baffle, adding density, mass and rigidity to remove any unwanted resonance. Large radius edges help reduce reflection.

The Boulder Mk-III can be expanded into a full 4-way main monitoring system with the Unity B.A.B.E or partnered with one or two Avalanche Sub-woofers for multi-channel surround system.
